The Genetic Ancestry of the Chamorro

The Chamorro are the Indigenous peoples of the Mariana Islands (including both Guam & the Northern Mariana Islands), Guam & the Northern Mariana Islands are both inhabited unincorporated territories of the United States.

According to 23andMe results on Reddit & some online genetic studies, the Chamorro are mainly Austronesian (both Indigenous Chamorro & usually some Filipino ancestry as well), with some Mexican Mestizo admixture (mainly Spaniard & Indigenous Mexican), with smaller amounts of South Asian (Indian) & Chinese.

Most of the "Spanish" settlers in the Mariana Islands were actually Mexican Mestizo settlers, who had both Spanish & Indigenous Mexican ancestry, the average Mexican Mestizo admixture among the Chamorro ranges from 1/4 to 1/16 of their ancestry.

The Indian & Chinese admixture among the Chamorro is usually around 1/64 of their ancestry.
