My Father's Genetic Ancestry

For Christmas & my father's birthday, I decided to test my father with AncestryDNA, I previously tested my father with 23andMe several years ago (with the old V4 chip, I haven't re-tested my father with the new V5 chip yet).

My father was born in La Barca, Jalisco, Mexico, to a Criollo (A Mexican of predominantly Spanish ancestry) father from Los Altos de Jalisco & a Mexican Mestiza mother from Michoacan, he was raised in Michoacan & immigrated to the United States as a teenager.

As far as his genealogical ancestry, on his father's (my paternal grandfather) side, he was predominantly of Spanish ancestry (from various parts of Spain), with smaller amounts of Indigenous Mexican (Aztec/Mexica, Purepecha, & Chichimeca), Belgian Flemish, Italian (from Genoa & few other parts of North Italy), Alsatian French, Portuguese (from several parts of Portugal), & Sephardic Jewish.

On my paternal grandmother's side, I only traced back to several generations in Michoacan, & likely all four of her grandparents were Mexican Mestizos (of Spanish & Purepecha ancestry, with a smaller amount of Afro-Mexican).

As for My father's Ancestry results, as you can see, he is mostly Spanish, with some Indigenous Mexican, with smaller amounts of Portuguese, Basque, Cornish, Sub-Saharan African, Levantine, Germanic European, & Cuban Taino.

the "Portuguese" could be from both legit Portuguese ancestry, as well as from Galician & Extremaduran ancestry, the "Germanic European" & "Cornish" is likely from Spanish ancestry, from Celtic & Germanic ancestry, a smaller amount could possibly be from Belgian Flemish ancestry, but it's unlikely, as that part of my father's ancestry is too far remote at this point, the "Levantine" is likely from Andalusi Morisco and/or Sephardic Jewish ancestry (via his Spanish side), the Cuban Taino is either mis-interpreted Indigenous Mexican ancestry or from an actual Taino ancestor who migrated to Mexico at some point (likely during colonial times), the Basque is obviously legit, from Spanish Basque ancestry, & of the course the Sub-Saharan African is from the Trans-Atlantic slave trade.

This is my Father's 23andMe results, as you can see, he is also mostly European, with some Indigenous American, with smaller amounts of Sub-Saharan African & Middle Eastern/North African, his European ancestry is also mainly Spanish, his Indigenous American ancestry comes from Mexico, the Northwestern Asian & Ashkenazi, as well as likely the Italian suggests distant Sephardic Jewish ancestry, the North African suggests Andalusi Morisco ancestry, his Spanish ancestry is mainly from Andalusia, followed by the Basque Country.

So, my Father is mostly European (mainly Spanish, including Basque), with slightly over a quarter Indigenous American (mainly Purepecha Indigenous Mexican), with smaller amounts of Sub-Saharan African (via Afro-Mexican ancestry, from the Trans-Atlantic slave trade), & Middle Eastern/North African (from both Andalusi Morisco & Sephardic Jewish ancestry), making my father a Castizo (a Mestizo with mostly European DNA, almost a Criollo).
